Peter Gadiel, President of 9/11 Families for a Secure America issued the following statement about the reports of the killing of 9/11 mastermind, Osama bin Laden.
“9/11 Families is gratified by the report of the killing of Osama bin Laden by U.S. forces in Pakistan. And we thank those brave servicemen for their service and their courage. Bin Laden has been planning and plotting and attacking Americans around the world for almost two decades. And to hear that an enemy who has declared war on the United States has been finally eliminated is good news.
“In the shadowy world of covert operations the complete truth is rarely known by anyone. Over the years we have heard claims of bin Laden’s death. We certainly hope that this report is true. If so, we want to borrow some wisdom from the great Winston Churchill and remind our elected officials that this isn’t the end, and it isn’t the beginning of the end. There are still accomplices to the 9/11 attack that have not been caught or killed. And there are fanatics plotting to murder Americans who weren’t trained or funded by Osama bin Laden.
“We want our government to continue to pursue those dedicated to murdering Americans. And, equally important, we want to see affirmative steps taken to prevent a re-occurrence of the events that led down the path to 9/11.”
